Authentication & Whitelisting
When you start to use your proxies you will be prompted to authorize your proxies with a username and password - essentially it's similar to verifying your account and authority when you login to say an email account or bank account etc.
We support two types of authentication (login) with your proxies which will be explained below.
Want to watch a video instead? This YouTube video will walk you through authentication and whitelisting:
1. Username & Password authentication
This is your ProxyRack username and password (the API key) which is listed in your members area / product page.
You enter these details into your PC, browser or chosen software when making a connection or request to the server. (More information on this can be found in any of the Login and set up articles - https://help.proxyrack.com/article/255-login-and-set-up-private-residential-proxies
2. IP Whitelisting
We also offer the option to set up your account so that on each connection you are not forced to repeatedly enter your username and password (as this can become annoying). This is called IP whitelisting.
We allow you to connect up to 50 devices (individual IP addresses) to your account.
To do this you will need to navigate to your member dashboard and click on your Profile / Whitelisted IP's
From this screen you will simply need to select - Copy to clipboard and then paste your IP into the first box
*For new users that have read the login & set up article notice that your IP matches the IP we searched earlier in Info https://ipinfo.io
We allow you to whitelist up to 50 different IP addresses which can be included in IP Address (2) (3) and (4) and then a further 46 IP's line by line in the bottom box
If you change your password or add a new IP address for authentication it can take up to 5 minutes to reflect on our servers.
Important - When NOT to use Whitelisting
You will want to skip Whitelisting and only use Username+Password authentication if you are planning on location/GEO targeting.
This is because you need to manually adjust your username with the location code when you are authenticating your account.
Whitelisting won’t allow you to do this.
*New feature - We understand that this isn't ideal and will be looking to launch this functionality on location targeting as a new feature soon. We will let you know when it’s ready to go.
